Something Wicked This Way Comes

Benito Mussolini more correctly described Fascism as Corporatism or the merging of the state and big business. Along with this came the mechanisms which were needed to suppress dissent and resistance. The suspension of civil liberties using covert and overt surveillance, along with restrictions placed on our civil liberties, such as detention without trial, all incrementally erode and sacrifice our freedoms for an
illusory promise of security. Along with this is the corporate medias massive propaganda machine that is needed to win the 'hearts and minds' of its reluctant citizens.

In other words, it is better not to take peoples hearts and minds by force because of the chance of revolt. It's much better to have them to WANT to give it away themselves.

Americans may not realize it yet, but the United States under Bush is already more than three-quarters of the way down the road to fascism. When I mention this to people I'm often branded a 'conspiracy theorist' and dismissed as nuts. Well, it seems to me that if someone in the government wanted to dismiss all talk of conspiracies then they would, in true Machiavellian fashion, simply use the vast propaganda machine (that is already bought and paid for) to program into peoples minds that any talk of conspiracies should not be talked about unless you are nuts
and as 'mad as a hatter'.

Yep, a conspiracy is needed to squelch any talk of conspiracies. But if I tell anybody that then I'm nuts by default because I'm a conspiracy theorist. I can only conclude that this Machiavellian tactic has worked...oh so well... for this present
day administration.

But at this point it doesn't not even matter whether we talk about
conspiracy theories or not. The facts are all there, but Americans do not yet see this ominous truth.

We are headed for a National security state. Its an
Elephant In The Living Room
and no one wants to see it. I've gone around to family, coworkers, friends and associates and spoken of this profound indifference that has overtaken the American mentality regarding where this country is going but no one seems to really care or think about it much. Everyone is so immersed in their own petty lives that they can't even see the evidence of the Draconian measures that are being crystallized into the American culture by the Bush Administration, all under the banter of "fighting terrorism."

Bush was elected for the Presidency by a Supreme Court full of right-wing, fundamentalist Christian justices. No one seems to see how our government is shoving down our throats this fundamentalist Christian agenda which lull's us into belief systems that blind us from Bush's psychopathic 'holy war' that clamps more Draconian controls on everyone of us from such things as the the Patriot Act. And it's all in the name of 'the war in terror.' But it's really the imposition upon the American people and on the rest of the world of a tyranny that's thrown upon us incrementally. Tyranny in increments. But as long as you call it another name then I guess it's something other then it really is.

Below I quotedRICHARD DOLAN
who speaks of a tyranny that's imposed upon us by the Bush Reich and how it's nailing the coffin on the American Republic while simultaneously building the scaffolding of an Orwellian empire that is to become the National Security State.

Indeed SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES

Or has it already arrived?

"A new American order is in place. Better get used to it. Or else.

"Five centuries ago, Niccolo Machiavelli explained how to undertake a revolution from above without most people even noticing. In his Discourses on Livy, he wrote that one "must at least retain the semblance of the old forms; so that it may seem to the people that there has been no change in the institutions, even though in fact they are entirely different from the old ones.

"That is, keep the old government structures, even while you make profound changes to the actual system, because the appearances are all that most people will notice.

"So today, instead of seeing the corpse of a republic in which we live, we see merely the dead man’s clothing. Those clothes look the same as ever, albeit increasingly worn. We have had a quiet revolution that has not eliminated our Congressional representatives – it’s simply made them largely irrelevant.

"It’s been a long journey to our current state of affairs. Not surprisingly, wars have been a major catalyst. Most wars fought by the United States have added power to the executive branch, while whittling power away from the legislature. This includes wars fought for high-minded purposes such as the Civil War and World War Two, mindless bloodbaths like World War One, and the dozens of undeclared wars over the past half-century.

"I would select World War Two – and its immediate aftermath – as the real turning point when the American Dream went awry. This is ironic, since it was at that moment when America first sat atop the world at the pinnacle of power.

"And therein lies the problem. For this was when the American republic began its transformation into a national security state. Or, to put it another way, into an Empire.

"Harry Truman has received a free ride from historians who glorify the all-powerful American State, but it he deserves a large share of the blame for the existence of our current behemoth – perhaps a future article will explore this more fully.

"But enough of the past. This is, after all, post-9/11 America, in which we are collectively driving our vehicle down a dangerous mountain path, only to discover suddenly that we’re not doing the driving.

"We no longer govern ourselves. There is no "government of the people, by the people, and for the people," in any meaningful sense – in any sense beyond what it might have meant to a citizen of the U.S.S.R. in the bad old days of the Soviet Union.

"As Machiavelli saw in his own time (and as he essentially foretold regarding our own), the dramatic changes to our political institutions have occurred without the people really noticing.

"Consider the extraordinary – "nonstop" would be a better word – number of U.S. military actions around the world these days. But when did Congress last issue a declaration of war?

"Consider the all-but open purchase of Presidents, members of Congress, and anyone else of significance by those with financial means. Yet another set of nails in the coffin of the American Republic.

"Consider the internationalization of real power in this world, and the lack of institutional means to examine or regulate such power. Our global situation is akin to medieval feudalism, or more simply gangsterism. The military power of the United States is the primary tool for enforcement and self-enrichment by those with means. Best of all, you don’t have to be an American citizen to influence policies of the U.S. military. Just ask any influential Saudi Arabian, Israeli, or Chinese leader. Or various leaders from the world of organized crime.

"Consider the ramming through of the Patriot Act a bare month after 9/11/01, when it was obvious that not a single member of Congress read it thoroughly. With such a massively expanded federal ability to spy into your personal life, you might as well bid farewell to the Fourth Amendment – at least if you’re doing anything interesting in the opinion of certain and mysterious bureaucrats.

"Consider the conviction held by America’s Founding Fathers that a functioning democracy requires an informed citizenry. Otherwise, they argued, the experiment in "government by the people" would be doomed to failure, and would inevitably transform into oligarchy. Compare that to our situation today, when ordinary people cannot gain important information from governing bodies, when the Freedom of Information Act is increasingly unfriendly, and when people are pacified 24/7 by a non-stop all-encompassing entertainment-driven culture that dominates one’s waking moments. The Romans called that bread and circuses. It describes our situation well enough today.

"In the same vein, consider also the promulgation of lies by America’s political leadership that served as the pretext for the current war (e.g. the false link between Iraq and Al Quaida, the falseness of claims regarding Iraqi weapons of mass destruction), and the willingness of America’s so-called Watchdog Media to jump uncritically on board, beating the war drum. And when recognition is made that the information was indeed false, it comes too late to prevent the pointless deaths of thousands of soldiers and civilians.

"Consider the horrified reaction to the savagery of Nazi and Japanese atrocities during the Second World War. To the infamous German defense -- "we were only following orders" -- the world responded (rightly) that there are certain human values that must never be transgressed, and that torture is never an acceptable human value. Fast forward to the atrocities committed by American soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison. And the defense offered by (what some like to refer to as) America’s finest: that they did no wrong, since they were only following orders. Just ask American soldier, Lyndie England. That’s what she told the world.

"Consider the ominous, burgeoning discussion on developing protocols in the event that the upcoming Presidential election needs to be "delayed" due to a possible terrorist attack. Delay the election? Even during America’s Civil War, the election of 1864 occurred right on schedule. We’ve come a long way, indeed.

"What has happened by degrees over the past fifty years is that our traditional political structure and culture have eroded and degraded into something that prior generations of Americans would have found shocking and unrecognizable. Indeed, they would have found our current state of affairs to be positively un-American.

"Machiavelli certainly had it right, but an addendum is necessary. After the true and deep structures of power have been sufficiently transformed, the outward appearance must eventually catch up. As the old song says, something’s gotta give, and the outward trappings will need to be revised to reflect the new order.

"Thus we see, in the wake of 9/11, that the veil of the New State is being lifted. It is a State that has become so expansive and powerful, it is no longer possible to hide it with the fig leaf of the old, honorable ideology of republican virtue. Consider our era the "coming out party" of the National Security State.

"The millions of bumper stickers that proudly proclaim "God Bless America" would be better expressed with a slight change:

"May God have mercy on the United States of America."

Ghost Of Orwell

In Orwells book 1984 the ever watchful eye of Big Brother was keeping constant tabs on Orwells totalitarian state using two way telescreens to monitor peoples every move while simultaneously broadcasting party propaganda.

Modern day advances in technology have reached such levels that they have even gone beyond what Orwell could have ever dreamed of. Public video surveillance has become all the rage in law enforcement, with cameras being deployed everywhere from sporting events to public beaches. Every move you make, every breath you take is being monitored. We even have digital cameras mounted on fixed installation posts along the roads that watch you drive and then issue you tickets. Heck, even cops are getting issued speeding tickets from these one eyed cyclops that watch us night and day.

Then you have cameras mounted on satellites

We are now in living a world where all the people on earth are under constant
surveillance. We, the people, are brainwashed into believing that these surveillance systems are protecting us from the other guy, or we even believe that we need these systems to protect us from ourselves. But who really benifits? Of course its the hierarchal control system that benefits the most. They give us an inch to protect us and then they take a mile to control us.

Of course with the surveillance systems like these in place it is impossible not to be caught breaking the rules and thus people go about their lives in a state of fear because they have no privacy. This is frightening world that was described by George Orwell in his book. When it was published in 1949, the type of World it described must have seemed a long way away, if not impossible.

Today our planet is surrounded by a range of satellites that are capable of both photographic and communications surveillance. Our towns and cities are covered in CCTV cameras. We can be tracked anywhere we go. Civil Liberties groups are horrified at this to ever-increasing levels of surveillance that we are subject to in modern society. It seems that the vast majority of people actually think they can avoid being tracked by not using credit cards. However they have forgotten the ever present eyes that watch us from the sky every hour of the day which orbit with silent stealth and has the ability to zoom in on any location within minutes.

A spy satellite can observe a target anywhere in the world whether the target is in a house, travelling along a road or in the middle of a desert. Infra red sensors can also negate even the affect of weather. There is no hiding place anywhere on Earth. Three spacecraft in a 35,786km (geostationary) orbit can image all inhabited parts of the Earth and relay that information to almost any computer screen in the world.

It is scary indeed and it is here NOW.

The ghost of
ORWELL is upon us and he hides in the
MATRIX

"For Bush and his cronies have given life to a
BEAST that has wrapped its malicious tentacles around the American psyche, breathing not oxygen but our exhaling fear, growing more powerful every day, feeding off our insecurity and continued dumbing down, enveloping our lives with our silent passivity, becoming omnipotent and omnipresent through our acquiescent complicity. Rolling down a snow-filled mountain as it gains unstoppable momentum, growing into a giant boulder intent on destroying 200 years of progress and hope, the disease created by Bush has become an unstoppable entity spiraling out of the control of humanity.

"The "War on Terror" is this malevolent demon called, a virus that is infecting America, catapulting us straight into the pages of a fiction - or a prophesy - long ago written by George Orwell. Immersed in 1984 we presently find ourselves trapped in, living the chapters of a great book that today has become our nightmarish reality. As each day passes in these days of George the Lesser we continue to turn the pages of a once-thought fantasy, traversing bound passages horrific in print that are inevitably becoming the truth of our daily existence.

"The fabrication that is the 'war on terror' thus continues to propel itself, becoming a mechanism created by man that is slowly spiraling out of our ability to rein it in and control it. It continues to expand, corrupt and divide, free to enrapture humanity with its dark haze of violence and hatred whose ramifications we do not yet fully comprehend. The perfect enemy has been created, the perfect sheep we have become, and in the dark constructs of human power, greed and control a military/ police state begins to grow.

"What is coming cannot yet be fully seen, it cannot be grasped by the human mind, for our brains work in the present, not the future, in conceptualizing small pieces, not large amalgams. We are unable to put the pieces of the puzzle together, failing in connecting the dots of a fascism rearing its ugly head over the horizon and the slowly emerging wars and battles being designed against the lands of the Middle East. Eurasia, Oceania and Eastasia have come into existence, conveniently designed to wage perpetual war against each other, propping up created enemies and hated foes that captivate our minds and souls.

"We are told that new bogeymen now breathe away our air of freedom. Blindly we believe that these evildoers hate our democracy, liberties and ways of living, and so we must wage war, destroying countries, cities, buildings, families and innocents, sacrificing our children and husbands, our wallets and wages, our own freedoms and liberties. In order to battle that dark-skinned phantom which has been conditioned into our frightful minds we are willing to contribute to the erosion both to our way of living and the future freedom of our progeny. The Red and Communist Russian has given way to the Turban and Muslim Arab, and so we must obey our government, as criminal and corrupt as it may be, like sheep blindly following the shepherd to slaughter.

"The fear of our conscious and the silence of our being are robbing us of more than Arab bogeymen ever could. Our own government is terrorizing more than Osama ever imagined. Our own government has us capitulating to fear, using the psychology of the weak-minded human brain to ensnarl us in terror, insecurity and the acquiescence of its criminal actions. It is using human fear to erode our freedoms and rights, turning a once grand beacon of hope into a Soviet Russia-style police state. In order to feel secure, in order to have a sense of safety our fellow citizens are gladly eviscerating their rights and freedoms, granting their evil government unprecedented levels of power over us. We are blindly giving up the beauty of America and the future of our children for the perceived security provided by government. The mechanisms of fear are working their black magic yet again, condemning the masses to their own ruination.

"As can be expected, humanity creates without understanding the implications of what it helps unleash. Our still primitive brains cannot fathom the ramifications our actions have into a future we are incapable of grasping. We create only to see what we birth spiral beyond our ability to control and understand it. To humans, forethought is but an afterthought, and, as our history eerily reminds us, what we spawn in the present comes back to haunt us in our future. Creating without thinking, forcing actions without planning, implementing policies without visionary imagination, the human mind cannot fully envisage more than a few years into the unseen future. The examples of this are littered throughout the pages of history. But, as is usually the case with mankind, we fail to learn from our tumultuous past, and so we repeat the mistakes of our ancestors through the folly of our mammalian passions and instincts.

"Already, the stage has been set for the further implementation of a police state in America, now seen in New York and Washington, that is changing the very fabric of what America once was and stood for. Those in power, a small cabal of immoral and elite miscreants, are spreading the virus of fear for their own sinister motives, entrenching in the populace a continuous flow of scare tactics designed to manipulate human emotions. The cover of threat is spreading beyond the Northeast to other large cities and regions. Under cover of fear and terror, Bush and company are altering the very fabric of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. They are forcing us to voluntarily give up our freedoms and rights for the sake of protection and safety from the same state engulfing us with those same elements of fear mongering we now confront on a daily basis. The disease is being spread nationally; the cloud of fear is enveloping America from sea to shining sea.

"These mechanisms of fear are inundating our daily lives, from local to national news, we are being conditioned to the new economy of fear, a new society based on terror that, since 9/11, has and will only continue to increase. Human emotions are being meddled with, our insecurities are being manipulated, and soon, whether in one year or five, a police state existing and thriving on fear will arise out of the blazing bonfires of all our burning rights and freedoms. The stage is being set, this path we are now on, and if we decide to put the jigsaw puzzle together a police state is what America is to become.

"The parameters of time and space will dictate its speed and severity, yet if the pieces of this most ominous puzzle are put together, the inevitability of this reality will become manifest. We must look to the totality of the circumstances, both the short and long term, to the present and future, to momentum and current events, to the direction the nation is taking and the increased fear mongering by our government. The winds of fear are giving way to the resounding army of despotic boots marching toward the coming police state".
