Ancient Science..our only hope
I have found it next to impossible to explain to the people around me how the people in the US (and no doubt, in the rest of the world) are walking around in a kind of sleepwalk, a kind of drugged stupor, that they can't seem to extricate themselves from. Even I strongly feel it and I am also strongly influenced just like everyone else, but I can at least stick my head up and see it on occasion. If it were otherwise I would not even be writing this.
Peter Ouspensky, the 20th-Century mathematician and author of In Search of the Miraculous, quotes the philosopher G. I. Gurdjieff
“If men could really see their true position and could understand all the horror of it, they would be unable to remain where they are even for one second. They would begin to seek a way out and they would quickly find it, because there is a way out; but men fail to see it simply because they are hypnotized.”
“You do not realize your own situation. You are in prison. All you can wish for, if you are a sensible man, is to escape. But how escape? It is necessary to tunnel under a wall. One man can do nothing. But let us suppose there are ten or twenty men – if they work in turn and if one covers another they can complete the tunnel and escape."
". . . Furthermore, no one can escape from prison without the help of those who have escaped before . . . if a man in prison was at any time to have a chance of escape, then he must first of all realize that he is in prison. So long as he fails to realize this, so long as he thinks he is free, he has no chance whatever. No one can help or liberate him by force, against his will, in opposition to his wishes. If liberation is possible, it is possible only as a result of great labor and great efforts, and, above all, of conscious efforts, towards a definite aim.”
“If a man could understand all the horror of the lives of ordinary people who are turning round in a circle of insignificant interests and insignificant aims, if he could understand what they are losing, he would understand that there can be only one thing that is serious for him - to escape from the general law, to be free. What can be serious for a man in prison who is condemned to death? Only one thing: how to save himself, how to escape: nothing else is serious."
Our 'normal awake' state is more like a trance state which differs from our actual sleeping state. At least in sleep the body lies dormant and inactive, but yet it retains its capacity for recuperation. But hypnosis is something different. It's more like a state of heightened suggestibility in which the mind is totally centered on one idea to the exclusion of everything else, including sensory perceptions that are unwanted or distracting.
The fact is, we are all hypnotized to greaser and lesser degrees. By this definition anyone who is really concentrating on something, like reading a book, or even watching television, may be said to be in a hypnotic trance. We can read a book and exclude the sound of the radio that's also playing nearby or drive a car and blindly follow the car in front of us and so on. But at least we still have a semblance of awareness remaining where we still have some power to make a choice to NOT read the book and do something else ot put the break on the car and so on. So we are always hypnotized at some level to greater or lesser degrees. This is what we call 'normal. But there are even greater degress of hypnosis that make man a complete mindless automaton. It makes man a 'thing,' a mindless machine that can destroy upon command. This is the direction that humanity is going. Actually this mentality has already arrived. It's called war. The psychopathy of recriprical destruction.
Gurdjieff constantly emphasized that almost all of human misery results from the fact that our lives are automatic, mechanical affairs. You (your behavior, thoughts and feelings) are then the EFFECT of external and historical causes, rather than the cause, that is, the initiator of desired actions.
The prison in which man finds himself today is one of profound hypnotic sleep. This hypnosis we live in makes us vulnerable to every kind of suggestion, from other people in the present and the past, from our literature and from our mass entertainment. It is because of this hypnosis that men kill each other in wars and it is precisely on this hypnosis that our leaders rely on so as to program sleeping humanity to kill each other for their own profit and gain.
Gurdjieff went so far as to suggest that most people are hypnotized most of the time. To achieve their potential they had to become "de-hypnotized". It is the unusual behavior associated with the deeper cataleptic and somnambulistic trances that seem so strange and mysterious.
These deeper states of hypnosis are most interesting and may indeed relate to certain forces in the universe that manipulate mankind and acts behind some unseen curtain (which also influences our puppet leaders such as George Bush) and acts to influence man to certain nefarious ends by sapping the precious human life force, which we need so much to break the stranglehold of this deep hypnotic states that we find ourselves in.
Beauregard spoke of a 'four-dimensional region of Elsewhere'
(in the Minkowsi-Einsteinian sense of the word) that he associated with the unconscious and subconscious realms and it is from this region that "participates in the world of information or of imagery representation." If I understand Beauregard correctly then it may from this 'timeless elsewhere' where our vital energy has the possibility to be 'built up' and stored so as to give us the possibility of free choice so we can become 'dehypnotized,' or it can be just the opposite where it is from this realm that our vital attention can also get drained leading us into deeper cataleptic and somnambulistic trances to serve the nefarious purposes of some 'hyper intelligence' that works from this higher realm THROUGH the psyche of man and feeds on humanity's vital energy so as to preserve its 'being' within these very realms.
Looking into history we have the Cathars, the Sufi tradition, the teachings of Jesus (which have been distorted over the centuries), the Knights Templars, and the teachings of Orthodox Esoteric Christianity all speaking or alluding to
pieces of a puzzle that relate to how we can escape from the nefarious agenda of this unseen predatory intelligence which feeds on mans awareness, using lies and deception and works through the collective unconscious of man to keep him asleep and unconscious.
Boris Mouravieff traces eastern orthodox Christianity as far back as the time of the Scythians and shows how this tradition goes back long before time of Jesus Christ.
All esoteric teachings allude to this control matrix that man is imprisoned by
and it is recently in the 20th century that men such as as Gurdjieff,
Boris Mouravieff, Carlos Castaneda, and the mysterious Fulcanelli who have brought pieces of this puzzle to help contempoary humanity figure a way to escape from this hypnotic slavery that is now engufing all of us.
